What do you guys think of substitute plugs? Often they don't have the type I
want but offer a substitute.

Re: plugs??

You mean spark plugs? You mean not the right type?

There is nothing wrong with a different brand, if they truly are an equivelant plug. Trouble is, there are way too many people out there sellling you anything that will fit the hole. Including the plug mfrs themselves. Now they have changed the numbering system so you can't tell what you are getting. I hate that.

Re: plugs??

I was running NGK plugs in my 99 225, my outboard mech told me to remove and install champion plugs, the NGK plugs he stated "would possibly ruin my pistons" I assuming the previous owner got them from an autoparts store and were the champion equivalant, and NGK is cheaper. So I would run with what the Manufacture says, and all OMC I believe was champion!

Re: plugs??

I dont like running NGKs in any of my OMC motors. I stick with the tried and tested Champs. That is what they were designed to run on.
