Plugs look rich?

1987 70HP Johnson, new plugs after going through about 10 gallons of gas. Shouldn't they be dull gray looking instead of this black sooty oily look? Any suggestions? WOT 5400, idles aroung 1000, any lower will die. Compression in bottom hole is 10 less than other top two.........L<br /><br /> http://www.leopoldoart.com/plugs.html <br /><br />

What fuel/oil ratio? Were you running fast most of the time? What oil are you using? Are you using any fuel additives?

Thanks guys! They looked a little rich to me after reading the Solec Manuel and the color of plugs and how they should look! 50:1 is the mixture.............L
