Does anyone know the original equipment plugs and gap for the 1987 Nissan 40hp electric start engine?
Did they use NGK plugs as original equipment or maybe Champion? THANKS!!

Re: Plugs & gap for 1987 Nissan 40 hp

Mine is a couple years older, and came with NGK. Manual says BR7HS-10 or non-resister B7HS-10. Gap is 1mm. I tried the champion equivelent for short time, but my perception was they seemed to start fouling sooner. Now run NGKs only in both NS40C and NS18E. If I know it is going to be a mostly trolling day, I use one heat range hotter plug. BR6HS-10

PS: I am talking about the 40hp 2 cyl, 2 cycle, not the 3 cyl. Not sure what year the 3 became available.

John,
Thanks for the info..mine is the two cylinder two stroke.I checked at my local dealer and he said NGK's also. #B7HS-10 gapped @.040
It's the exact same plug I run in my Yamaha 25hp also.I never have been a big fan of Champion plugs except maybe in a lawn-mower
