'83 140 Evin. My motor is using Champion 407 plugs. We go slow, a lot. Is there a different plug I can use? The 407s foul pretty quickly

They say 407 and they look like glowplugs. There is no gap. only a recessed electrode down inside a flat end.

i would install a set of champion L77JC4 plugs gapped at 35 to 40, they will not fowl as bad as the gapless plugs

I would try champion QL77JC4's gapped at .040 for slow runnung. Surface gap plugs are meant to be run full out and will foul at idle speeds. OMC Motors do not like NGK plugs for some reason. Stay with the champions! The 85' Models use either QL77JC4 or QL16V Surface Gap, so I don't see where it would hurt to use the gapped plug. $2.00 at walmart!

Id use a quality synthetic oil and use the factory recomended plugs!

Less smoke, no fowling, less carbon buildup!

LubeDude
