the insulation on the top plug wire is slightly frayed from getting snagged on the cowling while being put back on. I wrapped some electrical tape around it and it seems to work fine but wondering if this could affect performance of engine? thanks

Re: Plug wire question

If the insulation is dried-out, get a new coil with wires and caps. MSRP is about $60. If damaged near the plug cap, that part is available separately. If the insulation is still supple, stick with the _good quality_ tape.

Re: Plug wire question

thanks Paul, The wires are indeed flexible and damage is mid wire away from boot. Is NGK BR7HS-10 still the right plug for this motor?

Re: Plug wire question

Yes. We usually run the P version of the plug (BP7... or BPR7...); stays cleaner longer.
