Re: Plug from the inside or out?
There are a couple of ways of looking at this situation. At rest, with the plug inserted from the outside, water pressure is forcing the plug in. There is a ridge at the top of the plug so the more pressure that's exerted, the tighter it seals. On plane, the plug is above the water line. Can it shake out? Possibly but not likely. Can something snag it" Possibly but not likely. Inserting the plug from the inside means water pressure is attempting to push the plug out which creates a less secure seal. On smaller boats where a bilge pump may not be used, having the plug on the inside allows its removal on plane which is the only practical way to rid the boat of water. Therefore, mine is installed from the outside since I can't reach it from inside. But even if I could, it would still be installed from the outside. I have a couple of spares. One in my tackle box and another zip tied at a handy spot at the stern.
