PLS HELP! Feels like Spun Prop...but its not....

VP 270 4 cyl, anything over ~2200 RPM's boat feels like its cavitating....or has a spun prop, everybody told me it was a spun prop, the original was in bad shape, so I just got a new one, same pitch, everything 14x19 i believe and he boat still has the same symptoms, PLEASE HELP im going nuts here, atrying to figure this out<br />* on a side note, when its reving over 2200 rpms, its not just reving to redline freely, its like it catching, slipping, catching, slipping....HELLLLP! Thanks for any insight

Sorry Boomer, no couplers on the Volvo 270's, but it very well could be the cone clutch in the drive is slipping. First thing I would do is check the gear lube. If it's milky, that's water and can really cause the Volvo drives to slip, especially if the drive has a lot of time on it.

Before anything I would put a mark across the hub of the prop and see if it moves after a run. If not the prop then on to what Don is talking about. At that point it would have to be in the drive because if it was the vibration damper (Volvo's couplers) it would make a insane amount of noise when it broke lose.
