Please help with the serial number.

Hi,<br /><br />I just recently bought a boat that came with an 80hp Merc motor. I believe the year is about 1979-1980. Serial number is located on the port side top of the swivel/tilt bracket on a silver colored tag. Basically from the inside of the boat looking towards motor......look on the right side just under your steering link arm.<br /><br />

Try looking around for a Welsh Plug on the Engine. Should be a Silver Plug that is about the size of a quarter. Numbers should be on there or stamped directly to the head somewhere. It will be an 8 letter/number value.

Hi Serge,<br /> The decals date it as a 1980/1981 model, which fit with your guess. They likely didn't change too much between those model years, so any manuals you need are probably going to cover both years.<br />- Scott
