Serial number oa751115 on right hand side
All I can find out is it seems to be a 1989 ?
I do know it's a 3 cyl oil injected 80 hp mercury
My problem is and was as follows
WAS
-loose positive wire on started (tight end it up now cranks like a dream) before would crank slow and run outta juice quick like a dead battery would
Now the problem I am faced with now
I seem to have no spark at any of the three cylinders
I have made sure that the kill switch is on the run position
a little history about this motor and boat is that I just bought it during the winter from a close friend and had no issues previous
I have heard nothing but good things from this forum in particular just signed up and hope to strike up a good conversation with someone that can shed some light on to a fellow boater
out of the main wire harness coming from the controls I did noticed a black wire going straight to a ground did have the plastic coating somewhat melted not showing the wire but like it was a bad ground or something the entire way coming out of the main harness FYI
the only problem that myself and the previous owner was fully aware of was that we thought the starter needed to be fixed but turns out it was a loose wire at the starter which is the main red wire could this have caused the problem I am faced with now thanks in advance hope to see some peoples skills and experience
