Please Help..Lower Shift cable installation

1987 omc cobra..Lower shift cable to Transom.<br /> Too put it simple how do i install this the correct way. It connects to a lever on the out drive with a nut that has a locking screw on it.How does one know how much cable should be stickin out at the cable at the outdrive, or all the shift adjustments made at the engine shifter assembly

When you do it correctly you use 2 tools to set it. Its usually about 11 turns in.
