I mentioned remove the batt cable and had this in return (BELOW),My question is by removing the battery from a running motor will it destroy any thing on the motor? I do know reverse polarity will. This has me confused. If a emergency start was needed without the batt.Would you fry any compoents??

THANKS dew2

You can not pull the battery cable off with the motor running. That will fry the power pack.

Can't help much without knowing year, brand, model and hp of the motor you're working with. If it is an older motor with true magneto ignition, you can disconnect the battery and not hurt anything...as long as you keep the battery cables from shorting out. On those motors, the battery only turns/powers the starter. With more info, someone here can surely help you find the answer.
