PLEASE Help identifying wire

I have a wire which I think is connected to the starter solenoid but am not sure. 1979 Merc 115HP 6 cyl.

Can someone tell me what the yellow wire is from this picture. And also could this be causing my engine not to start after being WOT for 10 - 15 minutes. I just get a tick tick tick when starting. After I wait about 10 minutes or so it starts right up.

Looks like the wir to energize the solenoid to me.I would for sure fix it .It might also gouund out and catch something on fire.
