Does anyone have any idea what the make and model of the this boat is?
The boat used to belong to my father. I believe he purchased sometime in the 1950's but I'm not completely sure.
I'm trying to get a TN title for it, but the tag and title office says they need the make and model of the boat.
I can't find any ID tags on the inside of the boat anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Lotsa' possibilities. Do some lookin' 'round HERE. Might give you some clues.

That said - something doesn't quite add up though. We don't title boats here in TN. A bill of sale to the county clerk will typically get you registered. What did the seller give you?

Go to your BMV and give them your TN numbers and they should be able to tell you. I have no idea what it is but it looks really cool.

Thank you for your welcoming me to the site.

I didn't make myself clear as to my intentions. As I stated in the first post, this boat used to belong my father. He passed away last year so my mother and I want to sell the boat. It's been sitting for some time. Someone needs to get it who may want to restore it and get some enjoyment out of it.
There is no seller or bill of sale.
I was under the impression you had to have a title in TN in order to sell a boat. Is this not the case?

Thanks.

Okay, after doing some research it appears that boats and trailers are NOT titled in TN, but the boat's hull is registered with the TN Wildlife Resource Agency.
Is it registered with the TWRA by the numbers and letters on the side of the boat?

Those letters and numbers on the side of the boat should get you the paperwork you need from the State. They aren't there for decoration. Nice little boat. Personally I wouldn't think about selling it. When was the last time it ran?

Sorry to hear you lost your dad.

Correct: in the state of TN, TWRA is the registering authority for boats and you do that through the county clerks office. The TN numbers on the hull are the registration numbers. There's no annual sticker on the boat, so it's hard to tell when it was last current - but there's a card (wallet size) that you're issued with your boat's registration. That registration will have the manufacturer and the HIN (or serial number) which you will note in your bill of sale to the buyer. If the buyer is out of state, you can have a document issued that is like a title (can't recall what they call it) - I believe you can get that through your county clerk.

I never thought they were for decoration. I realize now they are registration numbers presumably from when my father registered it. There's a sticker in front of the numbers on the left side that has his name on it, the registration number from 1990. Perhaps that's when he registered it.
The last time it ran was around that same time period. I remember us adding electric start to the motor sometime in the 1980s.

Sounds reasonable. Might be tough to get the registration from that far back, but TWRA should have the data.

Don't give it away. That engine is a relic and if the lower half is in the condition as the upper half a collector will be proud to have it it his collection. The rest of the boat and trailer, depends. Best I can tell it's a 1959 4 cyl 40 hp Mark 58A: http://store.oldmercs.com/category_s/97.htm

Oh, I'm not going to give it away. It'll stay right where it is before I do that.

Thanks for the info. on the motor.
