Ok, I got it ,your motor is a Continental, very common industrial power plant.you can still get all the overhaul parts for it. Local Napa will hace parts listings.

Wow! that came out of a boat?

It does look like a continental engine I have to agree with that(overhauled one that looked almost like it), but I never saw one with a 2 piece flat head.. Anyhow that sucker has been around some days...Very cool... Tough motor, that's why it is still around

Ya, once I studied the pictures I recognised it, overhauled a couple over the years, never seen a 2 piece head before but there were several variations of the motor, cool, now what kind of trans is that?

Doesn't look like any Continental/Graymarine or Hercules I've ever seen. The split head makes it look like a Sterling, the manifold looks like a Red Wing.....

Shoot the dang thing will likely start and run.. I woulda done had to see if it would make a pop.. Where did you get it?

BTW I don't think your pictures work on that other site and may be the reason you can't get a reply.. Good luck.. It's a cool engine

Re: Please help ID my vintage 6 cyl. inboard

Josh i got theis motor from a guy who got it from a guy who had is so long that he didnt know where he got it but had taken care of it always storing it in a heated building and turning it occationaly. I reposted the pics to the other site but still no respounce so maybe i am still doing something wrong. the plan is to put this motor in my 1929 Dodge 20' runabout. if its the right vintage. maybe trade it if i can find something else closer to correct.

Your photos do not work because there is no space between the .jpg and http of the next URL.
