58' 35 hp sea horse. Has fire, compression, gas. Set ajustments to initial settings after a wile of pulling the cord started .Ajusted high speed plained out was running great for about four hundred yards then bogged down. While trying to restart broke one of the pawls on pull strter. Why would it die like that? Should i have put it in neutral and ajusted low speed after i got it running right on high speed? Keep in mind i converted it from dual to single line with mukuni fuel pump, i plugged one side of check valve, the place where it presureized old stile tank. i got those directions from the internet, could this be the probleme? It has new coils, condnsers and points also.
Please help very confused?

What is the source for actuator line for the fuel pump? If you used the pressure tank, outlet in the intake manifold, then that is your problem. The nipple that once fed your pressure tank, should be removed and replaced with a plug. The line used to actuate your fuel pump, should be fed from your bypass cover.

I did us the actuater nipple after pluging off the other side, i found on line directions for converting this way, but i think it was a 5 hp johnson they were converting. Why would this not work on a 36 hp?

So you think this is why my boat died, it wasn't getting any gas? There are two nipples behind carb, one down low one up high what is the high one? Should i plug them both?

That conversion is for the smaller engines, the larger ones such as yours were a drill and tap of the bypass plate and install a fitting to pull the pulse source. There is no mention of plugging the holes behind the intake, just block off of the old lines.
