Sorry I posted this message twice but it's very important for me to get an answer before I buy the engine<br /><br />I have a 3 cyl, 3 carb Mariner 75 or 90 (I'm not sure!!). <br />Inside the engine on the right hand side there is a round silver tag with tne number 9676485. I think this is the serial number.<br />There is no tag on the leg of the engine that says the year and the HP.<br />Can someone tell me with the above serial number the year and the HP of my engine.<br />Thanks

Re: Please answer me.......

I ran your number on the Mercury Part Express web site (www.mercurypartsexpress.com), and it said your number (9676485) was not a valid serial number.<br /><br />I'm far from being an expert, but on most motors there should be a tag or label on the transom bracket, and the tag/label will normally be just below the powerhead cowling. On my Mariner, the label is on the right-hand side, looking at the rear of the engine, towards the front of the boat.<br /><br />If you get these guys a valid serial number they can help you. But they need a good number.......

I tried too but these numers seems to be wrong. I was not sure that they where wrong but if SeaDawg say's so too I guess they are.<br /><br />I just mean that there is a lot of guys reading your and others posts and trying their best but it would be a mess if everyone replied "I don't know" "Me neither" "I'm lost" and so on. ;) <br /><br />I hope you'll find the right number and get back again.<br /><br />/Bear

I think you have the right serial number but nobody here has info on serial numbers for motors sold in Cyprus. There is a thread started by Boatin Bob on Nov 5, 2001 in thsi forum called "What year is this Merc?" (Sorry, I don't know how to create a link) where he had a 7 digit serial number (his was Canadian) with the same problem as you -- check the answers there for some help. According to Schematic's post at that time your serial number starts with a "9" so it was built in Belgium. The U.S. Mercury Parts Express website only seems to accept U.S. serial numbers (it wants an 8 digit number, while you and Boatin Bob both have 7 digits)
