play in prop??

iv searched the net and my service manual and really cant find the information i need. i have a 07 merc 115 4stroke and it seems there is some play in the prop. i can hold the nut on the shaft still and the prop moves, not much, but slightly, is this normal? iv ordered some lube for it, so that will be done shortly also. any advice be much appreciated

What make of prop is on the motor? If it is a Mercury prop, it likely has one of their Flo-torq interchangable hubs in it. These hubs are made of composite/plastic material that often need to have the nut re-tightened. The other thing that could have happened is the hub might be damaged. If either of these cases exist it can be fixed by putting a Rubex hub into your current prop. Part # RBX-102
