Plastic long spacer location came from lower unit where does it go??

Does the long black platic washer go on the shift shaft first (pic 1 and 2)? or inbetween the shift shaft coupler and on top the black metal part where the hole is in (pic 3)? Pic 3 is looking up into the driveshaft housing.
pic 4 is of the driveshaft housing
This would be a huge help knowing this answer!

Having a difficult time trying to figure out exactly what you mean. Do you have Power trim on your engine? If so, the big round spacer you have on the shift shaft in pic # 1 is pushed down as far as it goes and then there is a coupler which sits on top of it and this enters the hole on the bottom of the driveshaft housing as you are installing the LU.

I am presuming by the term "plastic long washer", you are referring to the coupler.

Does this make sense to you.

on the 5th pic #26 is the washer listed as oem: #26 SKU: 43041 SPACER (LONG MODELS). Yes is do have power trim on my motor.
On the right hand side of pic #3 you see the black lip with a hole in it. the space goes under that not over like what shown in the picture correct?
at the end of the shift shaft is the coupler (which adapts the splines of the lower units shiftshaft to the splines of driveshaft housings shift shaft), that is on top of the "spacer" in my pic3.
Thankyou for your time man i really need this answered so i can mount it back up successfully. i will provide all pics and info necessary to help answer my question.

There is no number 26 in the picture you are referring to and you are not being very clear. Do you have an engine s/n and model number?

I updated picture #5 the pic is useless though, I think i have the info i need, just need you to confirm that the Spacer actually slides onto the shift shaft (on the lower unit pic#1&2) before installing the lower unit.
if this is correct that answers my other question about the spacer being on top of that part on the driveshaft housing.
its a 98 force 120hp between OE288000- OE344999 i dont have exact S/N right now.

# 31 is the spacer and #33 is the coupler required for Power Trim. # 31 goes on before the LU is installed.

Does that make it clearer?

Sorry about that, should have clarified that it was not for a 1998 but what I was trying to show you in answer to post #6, was the relationship between the spacer and the coupler as you requested.

thankyou for the info, but my setup is quite different as the one in the picture.
