Ayuh,..... I don't know yer tank, but if it isn't set up to use a fill hose, 'n plumbed for a vent, nor an in-tank gauge,....
I'd say, you need a tank that is,....

would this work? im judging by the cap , that it looks like i could put a fill hose there, use gasket sealer (rv high temp red) ? slightly tighten with a clamp and then a vent line somewhere else. ?

Ayuh,..... The guy in yer 1st video built a Bomb,.....

In the 2nd video, would be fine for a field beater-mobile, but again, a Bomb in a boat,.....

'n the car fill pipe is another good way to spill tons of gasoline inside the boat, so another Bomb

would you like to explain your theory of a bomb? i cant see why this would not work? if this was the case for a bomb for a boat what makes vehicles so different in this aspect, besides being a steel tank. ?

and another thing, i cant afford to get another tank, so this is the only way i can see doing this , seeing as the tank is tucked away and very heavy when filled to pull it out to check fuel all the time.

Ayuh,...... Gasoline fumes are heavier than air,......
When lost from a vehicle, they desipatate,....
When lost in a boat, the gather in the bilge,..... When there's enough,.....
Boom,.....

so basically what your saying is that even when vented properly and sealed properly that i would still have a bomb? even tho its an outboard motor.... then if this is the case. all boats have bombs. so noone should be running a sending unit in their tanks or else Kaboom!

There are set rules for " properly" how do you know you can do it properly ? Most portable tanks are not built to the same specs as a built in tank so....if you choose to tackle this project, do not cut any corners and no patch job short cuts for your own safety !!

It is tucked away as you said
That tank is not approved for confined spaces. Sure ain’t gonna pass muster with the coast guard, the dnr , or the local water patrol.

The tank won’t be too heavy to pull out and check, after you burn off half the fuel. You should have a pretty good idea how much fuel you burn through after you use the boat a few times.

If you can’t afford another tank, you probably shouldn’t ruin the one you have.

im second guessing where the tank sits right now. (was put there by po) im thinkin i might just move it to under the splashwell . at least then i will be able to keep an eye on it and fill it with ease. untill i can get a donated permanent 18 gallon tank. and it will also give me more storage under the port side seat.

Sounds like a better plan, you might check for marine salvage yards ( junk yards) you might be able to scrounge up a small builtin fuel tank for little $$$.
