hello everyone, i have a 1976 evinrude 35 hp electric start. i have been working on it from sitting for 5+ years non running well i got it started today and it ran good but when i shut it off due to no water flow. i looked it over and wanted to see if it would at least crank again before i went and bought an impeller and the plate under the magneto that turns when throttle is applied well it turn clockwise and broke the pivot pin on the throttle linkage. also what is suppose to stop that from turning too far or is there some other issue i will post pics soon tonight.
you can see in the first two pictures of the broken pivot pin and the linkage laying there. then in the third shows how far it spun around and broke the pivote pin it was wedged against the shift lever there. and the last picture shows where its suppose to be.
