Pitted engine block

I am looking at a used boat and engine (200hp Johnson 1994), but I have just found out that the block has pits in it that have been sealed with marine tex. The pits are small, and the question i have is "should I walk away from the deal because of the pits, or is this a common occurance and can be resolved by changing the head gaskets every year as a preventative measure"?<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />rob_breslin@hotmail.com<br /><br />------------------<br />Rob
