I am installing Pipe-Lights on my PVC guide-ons. I got the LED set and like the idea that they are never submerged. The installation instructions are for making them ADDITIONAL lights with the common lights on my 20' Shoreland'r trailer. They would work in conjunction with the old lights. I want to black out the standard lights and use the pipe lights exclusively (I will still use the side marker lights and the undercarriage set (the thin set of lights under the boat; not required but there). My pipe-light height will be just under 48 inches off the ground. I cannot find anything that makes this a legal issue (most states seem to require them remain under 72 inches). Any concerns or thoughts?

heck no. my taillights are high on the guide-ons - makes for better loading at night, too. Only thing I wonder about is, the license plate illumination - but I never been stopped for that - so I'm guessing its ok.

Re: Pipe-Lights

I finished the install today. It is rediculous how bright the LED lights are! I am very happy with this product. I redid all the grounds too, so hopefully this is a headache averted. FYI - I used the marker wiring to set up light for the license plate.

Re: Pipe-Lights

Here is my photo. It took me about an hour and a half (not bad for a perfectionist newbie!). I used a plastics paint to cover my old lights so nobody would be looking at the wrong set. I did not have my tow vehicle so lights are not on. Pipe lights were $71 with shipping from ebay and paint was under $5. I had to cut and crop like crazy to get this pic small enough to fit iboats size restrictions!

Re: Pipe-Lights

Here are my "pipe" lights......instead of pvc though it is 1" metal plumbers tubing. The bend is just a simple 90 degree threaded elbow, and it is attached to the trailer with a metal flange. The lights themselves are attached via a bracket that is welded to the pipes. The best trailer mod to date though is the walking plank.............
