2 years ago I bought their stainless steel 'waterfall' drinking fountain for my 2 cats. Costs about $50 but it's nice- big reservoir, easy to clean and the cats like it. This morning I went through the weekly take-apart to clean it up and backflush the pump. When I plugged it back in the pump didn't start- just hummed. I tapped it and it started pumping. Okay, I figured it's on its way out so I googled it to find a replacement pump. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they only charge $12.95 for it.
Then I see a little farther down the page, a company-sponsored video on how to service the pump. Huh? Heck, it costs next to nothing in the first place! What could be servicable? So I watch the video and sure enough, this little nothing of a pump comes apart in three pieces with no tools needed other than a blade (aka, butter knife) to pry the cover off. Took the switch out, took the impeller out, cleaned out a bunch of dirt and hair.. and it's running fine. Took all of 5 minutes to do the job.
Go figure.
