Hello,

I noticed a piece of the housing has a break in it. Looks like cheap pot metal. I have a 90hp Mecury 1996 2 stroke. When I run it, out of the water water submerges from this brake area. I thought about JB welding it just to seal it. Not much else to do. All though this area gets water anyway, do you think it will effect anything once in the water? You can see pics here.

Looks like someone tried to bolt the lower unit on when the coupler for the shift shaft wasnt quite on there and when they tightened it the coupler popped out the hole you now have. Its not cheap pot metal. Thats aluminum. I personally would take it to a welder and have it welded.

So what your saying is that piece can be tacked welded back on. So I would not have to replace the lower end; correct?
