(Pics) Is this boat's stern sitting too low

It's a 14 foot Sea Squirt. Floating unloaded as it is, would you expect it be more level, like the stern is too low, or would you say it's OK as is? I'm trying to imagine the effect of two adults on that bench seat plus some gear. Found it browsing around CL.

Im no expert, but photos dont look right. Almost like the boat was photoshopped in. Water looks clear enough that you think you would see at least some of the boat under the waters edge. Just looks wierd.

I'm with him. It just looks odd/photoshopped.

Anybody who has the talents to use photoshop to put a little boat into a lake picture is not going to be wasting their time with that Sea Squirt. If you're interested, call and get more pics. You can always put some ballast in the bow...

*laughing*

The pic looks real enough to me. I think most of us just aren't used to that crystal clear water.

It looks a little low to me but not dangerously low. If it beats you up too much in the chop I'd look into a set of good tabs for it.

I agree it looks a little low but OK. That's a big engine for a 14' flat bottom. but it's typical for a couple of inches of the OB and the bracket to be in the water. Maybe you can move the battery forward? Are the tank(s) loose? If so see if you can put the battery in the console, tanks under the seat. I would not add ballast--why take up weight just so it sits pretty?

Be aware of the low stern, though, anchoring and getting on and off. Never stern anchor.

it actually sits like most flats boats, once you get on plane it levels out.

This is a 40 HP Yamaha so weight is not likely a serious issue. Note that the motor does have a foil on it -- and a large one too boot so bow rise is apparently an issue with boat. I agree that the clear water casts a different look to things but the shallow draft in back says things are not "made up". For all we know the boat could have some water in the stern although the terrain says it hasn't rained there in a long time.

Looks fine to me other than that stupid foil on the outboard. Lose it if you buy it and tab it correctly.

Looks like the Colorado River, Parker strip. When I see lakes in the East or Midwest I think the water is yucky . . . ;)

At first, i suspected foul play, especially if this was on CL.. mind you, I do not have anything that clear in my refrigerator let alone waters i can fish in.. "Love that dirty water.."

As mentioned, i think the motor may be a tad oversized for 14tf..but the side ribs on the hull are designed to creat lift (meaning the stern end will get picked up..) once underway... so i say great boat.. just be sure its not a CL scam..cuz you know they do scam,,,,,,,

It looks right.
The floor looks more level.
THe front gunnel area just has a rise to it, probably to give you a drier ride.

The Colorado River I grew up on is green and not that clear.
