I need a way to haul a 10' pwc in a 8' pu bed- to load and unload- maybe a ramp /roller system or a crane setup? anybody do this w/ success? the pwc weighs @715 lbs. I dont know if backing the truck down into the water that far to launch/load would damage something.

There is a new invention that will solve your problem and they are usually about 200 dollars used and 400 new , it will solve the problem of getting the ski in the truck and not require you to back the truck in the water, it is called a trailer, pretty neat little thing and it lets you keep the ski on it when you aren't using it.

First thing, you don't want to dunk your truck in the water, especially if it's salt water. Lots of corrosion associated with that (rear end, brakes, bed). There are a few ways to do what you want. A crane system will work, but launching it out he back is a problem because the crane will not reach out far enough. A side launch is the way to do that, but at the ramp you may not have the room to do that. There are two solutions, depending on the type of truck you have. One is a bed slide (www.misstruck.com/products/bed_slide.asp). The other is Roll-N-go Ramp. (www.overtons.com) This is, I think, the best way to go. Like I said, depending on your truck, you might need a combination of the both!! What you want to do is a bit pricy, but in my case, I pull a boat along with my ski and it's worth not having to take two vehicles to the water!!!

I've been thinking of a similar situation for my pontoon boat since it takes us two vehicles to get them both to the lake/river. I was thinking of mounting the ski to the front deck of the pontoon and launching it once in the water. I haven't done this yet, just thinking about the added tongue weight on the pontoon and tow vehicle.<br /><br />In my searching I ran across this device that is designed to be used on a dock, but it could readily be used in your situation. This should at least give you some ideas.<br /><br /> http://www.championtrailers.com/Jet_Rail.htm <br /><br />Hope this helps.
