When did Lowe Roughneck series boats go to the wood free construction? As I said the boat I'm going to look at is a 2004 model 1860 SC with a 60HP Yamaha 4 stroke. I've heard in another thread on this site some Roughneck boats had corrosion problems in the aluminum and wood transoms but most those boats were saltwater boats.

Any word on when Lowe went wood free transom in the Roughneck boats?

Not familiar enough w the Lowe line to know when (or if) Lowe went wood free.for transoms.

Please try to take notice of how long a topic has been inactive and after 90 days w no activity, dont post to them.

I understand that I posted in that in an old thread so I started this new thread and Lowe advertises as being wood free construction so I was wondering when they started that.

You should be able to tell by just looking at it on the I side. Mine was a 10 and you could see the aluminum framework and then they welded a thick aluminum plate over the center of it. There customer service was pretty good about answering questions.

Thanks for the answer. This boat is a 2004 and was exactly as you described. I picked it up yesterday it looks used with worn paint here and there but is in great shape really. The guy I bought it from was the original owner had to grind a little out of the angle in the plate to fit the Yamaha engine I was a little concerned about that but the plate has no cracks or broken welds and has been that way for 10 years.

No Title

Well I bought this 2004 Lowe Roughneck 1860 SC. Test drive went well and have had it out twice since Tuesday. No wood in this boat at all. The bilge was nice and dry after 3 hours of playing and transom welds are flawless. I went over them with a jewelers glass. I think its a tough boat.
