Well, I finally found repower for my boat. 1966 merc 50 hp. Physically it is in great shape, 7 out of 10. It fires on the first crank. It has a new starter as of last season, and a new cap 2 years ago. I picked it up for $500 with the origional metal tank with the nice merc label on it. The guy even thew in a 1 1/2 year old deep cycle battery. So, my questions.
1) was this a decent price for this motor (complete with controls)?
2)what is the oil mix for it? (please dont suggest that I get a manual. I have ordered one, but wont be here by tomorrow...)
3)I need to disconnect the throttle/shift cables so i can route then through the boot in the splash well, but i cant figure out how to GET TO THEM... any suggestions?
4)anything I should check or pay special attention to?
btw, I am fairly new to boating, and when i bought this boat it had an evinrude on it...
THE MERC IS SO MUCH BETTER LOOKING!!!
