Just got an email on this from my USCGAUX Flotilla:

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission passed a new regulation at its September 27, 2011, meeting on life jacket wear during cold weather months. This regulation takes effect November 1, 2012, and states that: a person shall wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD or life jacket) during the cold weather months from November 1st through April 30th while underway or at anchor on boats less than 16 feet in length or any canoe or kayak.

Poorly worded. Underway on all boats? or just on boats under 16' in length.

I believe it is just on watercraft under 16 feet. Hypothermia comes on VERY FAST once the waters get that cold ... more for recovery than saving at that point ...

Easy fix with the use of a floatation coat or jacket.

Does Iboats sell a camo float coat for our hunting friends?

that seems like a reasonable plan. my local gov just (last year) enacted a law that says you need a boaters card ( $80 course) to operate any boat with a motor....even an electric troller. no card is a $300 fine, you also need pfd's for everyone on the boat....but yer not required to be wearing them!? wheres the logic???

WE have a similar reg about the operators card on Ontario. It was phased in over 5 years. Only thing is if you are tourist visiting Ontario you are not required to have it.
