Has anyone ever installed the Pertronix electronic ignition kit to replace the points / condenser in their engines? How did you like it and is it worth getting? Also for tune-ups can you use standard automotive tune up parts or are they strickly marine. Thanks for the help.

That magnetic spark advance was the best $100 I ever spent on my 1976 Chevy straight 6. Had to change the timing, but the thing ran like a dream after that.

Hi Sprung A Leak.. Try the red "search" above and type in "pertronix" in the search box.. Lots of good information...

As for tune up parts, you guessed it... It's strictly marine with the exception being spark plugs... ;)

I have a 4.3 OMC. Best money I ever spent on my boat! One summer I chased a bunch of hesitation problems and this fixed it.Yes you do have to reset the timing. I have a shift interrupter on my engine, and it even comes with instructions on how to wire the Ignitor to it.
