"Performance Yachts (Miami, Florida) - his 42 footers"

LETTER to Mike (prospecting for a new Cigarette hull type "yacht???)..
MIKE..

Your message was forwarded to me by Bob with Performance Yachts (Miami).

I purchased one of Bob's 42 footers (Cigarette hulls) last year and took it from Miami to Nassau myself (alone) in 6 foot following seas. I had Bob put 3 new ficht 250 HP Evinrudes on this boat, and this boat is the most unbelievable riding boat I've every been on or owned.

She tops out at 58 MPH. Goes through nasty choppy seas like a Cadillac at 45 MPH. The ride at this speed is better than a Hatteras. Want to know know why?

Check out Performance Yacht's website for more details on their boat. Click onto www.performancepowerboats.com

At 45 miles per hour, everything inside the cockpit and cabin of a Hatteras will fall all over the place. I have a friend that owns a 48 foot Hatteras, and was told of one trip from Chubb Cay when the seas were bad, they had to turn back.

Pictures fell off the walls, and the cabin was falling apart. In the cabin's bathroom, tiles were falling all over the place. Several people got seasick too.

I fished Bob's Performance 42' in 10 foot seas this spring, and won two Tiffany NY silver bowls in one tournament, and won the annual Billabongs tournament for the 3rd year in a row.

Also, the Performance is stronger than anything here in Nassau, or anything in it's class - anywhere.

I also own a 34 foot+ Wellcraft Scarab (1988), and the Performance is 3 times the boat. No comparison.
The Scarab is junk by comparison.

Also. For the money I spent, no body in the world can give you better quality for the price. Mine is loaded with stereos and other extras, (special steering, lots of heavy duty stuff, etc.) and the cost of a similar boat would be well over $250,000.

I didn't skimp when I had Bob build it. I added an extra $30,000, but got $40,000 in extras via Bob's experience in purchasing.

One 36 foot boat I'm glad I didn't order would have been over $350,000 (the builder's base price quote to me last year over the telephone), and I'd have been sorry if had I ordered it. It came with two Yanmar diesels. So what.

You can get 1,000 hours out of a Evinrude 250 HP powerhead. I have a friend that owns 7, and uses them commercially. The first powerhead went at 1,000 hours. A few (he runs 4 on the back of a Performance 42 footer) of the engines are still going with over 2,000 hours.

Also. I get a little better than 1 mile to a gallon of gas with the Performance. Even big diesels on big boats don't compare, as it takes me 1/2 the time to get where I'm going.

I keep telling Bob to raise his prices.

Call me if you have questions.
242 327 7359

See attachments for some pictures.

You can see pictures of my boat by clicking onto my website.. http://www.bahamasbahamas.com/

For a little YFT fishing tale, check this out. http://www.sport-fish-info.com/dcforum/cgibin/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=642&forum=Tuna&archive=yes

Also. On my last three trips to this area on the new boat (1 hour travelieng time - round trip), I/we landed 9 YFT - 8 of which were over 50#s, and one around 80#s.

Thomas Azzara
New Providence Estate Planners, Ltd.
(Lawyers/Barristers and Consultants)
54 Sandyport Drive
P.O. I saw you name on the website, and wanted to know
if you currently own one? if so, how do you like it ? have you had any
problems with it ? is it a good 'rough water' boat ?
I'd appreciate it if you'd give me any info possible. I'm looking to move up
from my current Wellcraft scarab 302 cc sport fishing boat. also, if you
have any pictures, please send them along. thanks a million for your time.
mike bonaiuto
(321) 725-0039
(Melbourne, Florida)

Yellow fin Tuna From Hell

new thread
http://www.sport-fish-info.com/dcforum/cgibin/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=642&forum=Tuna&archive=yes

Toms Fishing Gallery
http://www.bahamasbahamas.com/gallery.html/gallery.html

page #2
http://www.bahamasbahamas.com/gallery2.html/gallery2.html

So, what's your point, Capt. Solo? Wanna make us unwashed water people drool?

I suppose for the ultra-macho gold chain crowd your boat is an orgasm. Most of us here live for five years on what that battleship cost. Showing it off here is not the ultimate in good taste.

Enjoy it, and good fishing.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

RE: Don't cry for me!

For the "Captain" above from
The Hideout, Whitt, TX, USA

Don't mind making anyone drool over my new fishing machine.

Just for the record, twenty years ago, I spent 10 years flat broke in Houston Texas (not far from the Astrodome) using the University of Houston law Library to research a book I eventually wrote and self published, which led me offshore to a job I created (consultant).

Worked the oil patch a few times too, which was tough work, but I've been through tougher.

I earned the money the hard way. No one gave me any hand outs. "Xcept for a little "aid" from Uncle Sam!!

Going from flat broke to $400,000 annually after tax. That should might make a person "drool".

What do you expect me to do with my new found wealth? Take it to my grave?

I’d rather go fishing in these pristine waters. American born E. Hemmingway fished these Bahamian waters once too. He was a far better writer than myself, but when it comes to reeling in those YFT, I’ve got a step up on the now deceased Earnest Hemmingway too .

No offence, you can drool over my Performance Yacht. That’s OK.

Earnest Hemmingway made millions in the 1930’s with his novels, but he would drool a bit too.

Nothing wrong with making a good living in or outside of America. That’s my feeling.

Good luck to you.

Capt. Tom Azzara (a.k.a. Capt. Solo)
Nassau, Bahamas
:)

Captain Solo, to each his own but this is just not a site where people compare the lengths and horsepower of their cigarette boats. You want a Viagra chatroom. I've also got to correct you on one thing. I don't know about Earnest Hemigway but I think Ernest Hemingway would have much sooner drooled over an 18' whaler than that torpedo of yours.

By the way, good luck with the Fichts. I'm not sure you'll be as optimistic about them if you read the posts on this site.

Re: "Performance Yachts (Miami, Florida) - his 42 footers"

To the captain from The Hideout, Whitt, TX,, I'd rather have the cash than the class.

To the fisherman from Plantation, FL - A fishing lesson I learned from E. Hemingway:

There’s a reason why Bimini in the Bahamas was one of Earnest Hemingway’s favorite fishing haunts.

Hemingway began fished Bahamian waters in June of 1935. After achieving fame and wealth with two novels – "A Farewell to Arms", and "The Sun Also Rises", Earnest Hemingway purchased a deep-sea fishing boat called the "Pilar", and with his three young sons, set out for little Bimini.

On one venture into the Gulf, Hemingway hooked a 1000# + BFT, only to have sharks take everything but the head. The head is reported to have weighted around 250#s.

Hemingway was known as the alpha-male in Bimini, and in between novels and fishing, he was known for an occasional fist fight in the bars in Bimini. Hemingway had to prove himself the alpha-male, it’s written. No Viagara for him.

I don’t believe I need any Viagara myself, and I’ll leave the alpha-male stuff to those much younger. Fact is. I’ve been there. Done that. Just plain dumb.

Story: Yellowfin TUNAs FROM HELL
http://www.sport-fish-info.com/dcforum/cgibin/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=642&forum=Tuna&archive=yes

Tom's Fishing Gallery (including 11 foot long Giant Squid (totally intact) found in 6,000 feet of water in Bahamas)

Click on or paste in your browser
http://www.bahamasbahamas.com/gallery.html/gallery.html
http://www.bahamasbahamas.com/gallery2.html/gallery2.html

Personal Resume: Who I am.

USAF – Honorable Discharge (1974)

Attended Ohio State University – Columbus Ohio (Arts and Sciences)(no degree)

Plainview High School (NY): 4 time New York State Gold medallist in NY State Swimming finals. (Gold in 200 yard Freestyle + 3 relays)(Numerous silver and bronze metals also in the State’s finals).

HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICAN LIST in 1995: I anchored Plainview HS’s 200-yard freestyle relay at Lawrenceville Prep School’s Military Academy’s "Annual Invitational Swimming Championship Meet". Our 4 member swim relay broke the National School Boy record there, and beat Mark Spitz’s HS relay time (California) by over 1 full second). Mark Spitz swam on his California HS relay in 1965, but never swam us. We also beat all the Military Prep Schools at Lawrenceville - by time, although we did not get to swim against the military prep school boys, one on one.

Company Net Worth: $2,000,000 + (that’s capitalism for you. Never had to beg for shareholders, either).

Hope to pass this business on to my little 5 year old girl. reads, writes and adds as well as I do already!

Self-Taught: Publisher/author/researcher of book and newsletter dealing with tax havens and their uses. 17 years experience reading and writing about US Internal Revenue Code (statutory tax law) and accompanying US Treasury Regulations.

"Without America's Libraries, I'd have ended up a bum."

Professional track record:

In the last 10 years, I've incorporated over 1,200 International Business Companies here in Nassau!

Beginning in 2,001, we began forming IBCs out of the Crown Colony and no tax haven of Anguilla - 150 miles east of Puerto Rico.

We have a total of over 400 IBC's (in-house) that are mostly Bahamian in origin, and most all are being moved to better jurisdiction - in our opinion.

We've formed more than 198 Anguillan IBCs since the beginning of this year (1-3-2001 through 11-1-2001).

In January, 2001, I became an "Overseas Agent" for the Anguilla Government Registrar of Companies, and as such, have a signed “official” Agreement with them. I also have same agreement with a barrister in Anguilla - also working directly with Anguilla Government.

Mr. Earnest H.... IF YOU ARE LISTINGING. I'VE taken over you acheievements with one species of tuna - the Yellow fin. You'd have to come back from the dead to beat my YFT numbers.

I’ve lived in Nassau in the Bahamas for 10 years now, and have been "drift/chunk" fishing the YFT in the Tongue of the Ocean for a good seven years. I’ve landed well over 800 YFT over this time. So many, I’ve lost count.

If someone told you you could catch YFT ranging from 10#s to 120#s within 30 minutes from your dock, on 8 out of 10 trips, in the very same 1 sq. mile area-spot, in every month of the year, you’d probably start off by calling him some pretty nasty "stuff"; so, I’ll only tell you about my last three trips to the US Navy’s AUTEC buoy 20 miles from my dock.

9 YFT + 4 dolphin. eight of the nine YFT ranged from 50#s to 80#s.

Tight lines Mr. E.

Re: "Performance Yachts (Miami, Florida) - his 42 footers"

Well, Tom, you have accomplished much with what seems a very competitive personality. I am sure that is important to you and to a lot of your friends. It doesn't mean much around here.

As for Papa. You very clearly never met him. He was a modest person, and I guess you know how he chose to leave us.

We don't, as SuzukiDave points out, compare wealth or possessions as a way of seeking respect here. We get that by helping fellow boaters solve simple or difficult problems.

I cannot speak for my friends, here, but I found your boastful posts vulgar and offensive. I always felt that way. I remember Billy Walker, 60 years ago, "Haha, Cornwell!! I've got ice cream and you haven't! Nyaaa Nyaaa!!". He kicked my butt, but he paid dearly and never did that again.

Hang around here for a while, Tom. If you become one of the respected regulars here, it will not be because of what you have or have done, it will be because of what you contribute.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: "Performance Yachts (Miami, Florida) - his 42 footers"

Seems like I've reached all three of the three stooges.

US Billionaire Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. owns more than 15 subsidiaries in the Cayman Islands?

Commentary. Matthew Lynn - columnist for Bloomberg News. The opinions expressed are his own.

Well, in truth, it is the big companies we work for, own shares in, and buy goods from. Here are just two examples, plucked at.

News Corp., the media company run by Rupert Murdoch, according to its latest annual report, is the owner of companies such as News Cayman Ltd., based in the Cayman Islands, Newscorp Netherlands Antilles, Quazar Investments, based in Mauritius, and the cutely named Shining Profits Ltd., based in the British Virgin Islands.

In total, News Corp. owns more than 15 subsidiaries in the Cayman Islands, and more than 40 in the British Virgin Islands. Is it really necessary to have 40 subsidiaries in the Virgin Islands? Surely it's quite hard to find 40 people, never mind 40 businesses you would actually want to own.

Barclays in St. Lucia

Barclays Plc, one of Europe's biggest banks, operates branches in such places as Belize, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman, the Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico, the Turks & Caicos Islands, St. Lucia and St. Vincent, according to its corporate website. Again, what is it doing there? Is the St. Lucia economy so important that Barclays feels unable to ignore it? This is a bank that has not yet troubled itself to establish bases in countries such Poland or Thailand or Chile.

But it feels St. Lucia is a good place for a bank. Why?

The point is not to single out those companies: they are no different from thousands of their peers. But their behavior poses two questions.

If there are tens of thousands of offshore companies, serviced by hundreds of offshore banks, all of which are closed to regulators and the police, does that not create an environment in which it is easy for terrorists to hide and launder their cash?

And does it not also create an environment in which it is impossible for investigators to track money down to its source? Among the billions held in offshore accounts, shuttling between the offshore subsidiaries of global companies and global banks, the money trail goes cold very soon.

Check out Performance Yacht's website for more details on their 40 footers.

Click onto
www.performancepowerboats.com

EXTRA..

Billionaire Michael S. Dell (Dell computers) is building a mansion on this island paradise - we were told by two islanders of substance. So is Arnold Swartznegger.

click on website below... find out why?
http://maxpages.com/capitalproject

Re: "Performance Yachts (Miami, Florida) - his 42 footers"

That's the point I was trying to get across from the beginning.

I'm not a rich kid. I look for value for the buck, like any smart shopper. I looked at Fountains and Wellcrafts and those new Midnight Expresses (their websites).

Bob's overbuilt Performance 42s don't cost much over $110,000, but you should email him or call him for exact figures.

3 - 250's will get you 58 MPH fully loaded with 260 gallons of gas.

Compare Bob’s Performance 42s with the cost of those new 39 foot Midnight Expresses (with power) that they are building in South Florida (coat over $200,000 with engine package, etc.), or any similar Wellcraft Scarab or Fountain type hull, and.... there is no comparison.

I'd take his Performance 40 over a brand new 39 foot Midnight Express any day. Don't get me wrong. The 39 foot Midnight Express looks like a good strong boat too.

I had boat builder/owner Bob foam in all the gunwales - all the way to within three feet of the bow, and the strength and sound of this boat going through a nasty sea is amazingly quiet. The ride is unreal - smooth...... compared to my 34 foot Wellcraft Scarab - which I keep for super calm days now.

Do you think Fountain or Wellcraft or Bertram would ever build you a boat like that, at that cost? No way - Jose!

Bob keeps telling me all that foam isn't necessary, but I think it is. I was advised to use it by a Bahamian who owns two Performance 42 footers + one old 1988 midnight Express (with 4 250 HP carburetor Evinrudes) on the stern.

He runs commercial trips to the Exumas. Look up Powerboat Adventures (run by Nigel Bower)

I saw my boat when it was still in the mold. Bulkheads are very close together for super strength - which you need in the open ocean. Bulkheads went all the way from the stern to the bow.

In my 34 foot Wellcraft Scarab, there are about 1/8th as many bulkheads.

I liked my Scarab, but it's junk compared to the Performance 40.

Call Bob. You'll like this builder too.

He's from the old school of boat builders. Used to work for the guy that built the original Midnights.

When I was in his shop last week, he had 4 boats out of the molds - being assembled for customers.

Bob Tefra
Performance Yachts
2050 153street
N. Oh, man! I had a ball reading these posts by Solo-Hander. I'll bet he's posting on other boards as an ex-Navy Seal, Kung-Fu expert, or some red hot stud. Amazing how some rich, successful executive would waste time trying to convince others on the internet that he's truly the master of all he surveys. What a load. I would bet we're dealing with some frustrated toilet plunger salesman with trouble 'hoisting his mainsail' :D

Apparently nobody does care, thats why he's here. Tough to find friends when they won't fit on his boat around his fat head. How much ya wanna bet Bob doesn't like him either? Likes his money tho. Man, he's gonna have one small funeral. Little 'aid'? Kinda like a hand out? So what you are saying is, we helped you get rich! Now i understand where my tax money went! Glad i could be of help! No, i wont drool on your boat, might pee on it tho, after all, i did help you buy it. As for viagara, i bet you dont need it, with a name like 'solo'.
