I have a Skeeter 17-6 bass boat with a Yamaha Pro-V 150, I am interested in getting more power out of the motor. I am pretty green to outboards but run an automotive machine shop. I know that the bore and stroke are the same on the 150's and 200's, Is the only difference the carbs? Any suggestions on more horses! Thanks

What year model is it? Changing the tuner to the 220 or V-6 Special has been a boost on all models. Other changes depending on the model can also give big gains.

Is this something that could be done to the big V-6 outboards?? Can you explain a little more in this tuner thing??

Besides the tuner, you need a set of reeds and carbs off a 220 or v6 special. That model gets to about 210 HP with those changes. the tuner is available at the dealer for roughly $60.00. E mail me at neudecray@hotmail.com if you are interested in the reeds and carbs. Exhaust Tuners have been one of the ways manufactors have used to restrict the engines down to the correct horse power. It knocked off about 10 hp on that particular model.

Shep, all engines can be modified for more HP. Many times it is not worth while since the gain is not that great for the application. His engine is one where big gains for a reasonable cost is obtainable by swapping stock parts around. That boat will also normally respond to the extra horses making it worth while if you are into speed.
