Just wanted to post this to make it easier for those who want to install a tell-tale or pee tube on their Force motor. Mine is an 88 force 50hp. As suggested, I removed the pipe plug located on top of the head just in front of the thermostat cover. Like everyone else, I had trouble using a slotted screwdriver and used a small pipe wrench to back it out instead. I guess a good pair of vice grips would work too. Be sure you get a good bite on it before trying to unscrew it.

I bought a fitting at Lowes plumbing dept. It's called a 1/4" x 1/8" Tube to MIP Elbow w/insert. I had about 18" of 1/8" plastic tubing like the type used to hook up an icemaker on the fridge. I installed the elbow in the hole where the pipe plug was, drilled a small hole in the side of the lower cowling (on the right side) hooked up the tubing , and routed it through the hole in the cowling. Took about 15 minutes to do and now I have a nice pee tube that shoots water out the side of the motor where I can see it when I'm running. Sure beats those spittin" vent holes at the back.

Re: Pee Tube Installation

Hi Docdoc.
In a way I'm glad to hear others are having problems getting the blanking plugs out.
When this mod was introduced earlier I fiddled around with mine, took the plug out and then replaced it with Loctite thread sealer just to make sure no leaks occurred.
Guess what, now it wont move.
Will try grips.
