The pee hole did not pee so we removed the hose and blew it out and now it just dribbles. What can be wrong?

Re: pee hole dribbles Honda bf50

sunbeam I used to own a '97 Honda 40 and it did the same thing. The reason mine did it though is because I run alot of shallow rivers and the pee hole and that small 4" hose got built up with grime and shale. This seem to work for 2 years then it would just slowly dribble I think it was the impellar going out. Do not what happened I just got rid of the motor. But the good news is that I never had any mechanical problems or it never overheated

sunbeam2,
Check to make sure you dont have debris in the intake screens. Also, did you remove the hose and blow the hose or did you blow the fitting that goes through the cowling? Try blasting 90lbs of air through the pee hole port on the outside. It just may be enough to loosen whatever's clogged in there.

IF you're not overheating, then the cooling systems working. Just the indicator is blocked.

Nav

Is there a way to activate the alarm on a hoda 50 w/o actually overheating the engine...I want to make sure it's working. Thanks

How old is this unit and when is the last time a water pump inspection /replacement has been done? With the gearcase off you can blow back through the water tube and usually can tell if there is a restriction. If this engine is flushed improperly ,or run dry ,it will waste that water pump in no time at all.As with all outboard cooling problems, start at the waterpump.
