Patching holes

Hi folks,
I just purchased an 85 islander 221. Overall, it’s in decent shape. Starts right up, runs good. It does have a lot of holes from previous owners. Old screw holes and what not. What would be a good way to fill them in? Most of them are small screw holes, but there’s about 4 on the upper part of the transom that I can fit my pinky through. Any suggestions?

Use small ( maybe 1/8 inch) stainless steel screws and lock nuts with a couple of stainless steel fender washers(about 1 inch in diameter)…one washer on the inside and one on the outside of the hull. .Ace Hardware has a great variety of stainless fasteners

Fill them with marine putty, either polyester or epoxy. If you want a good job, get some colorant and tint it. Overfill the holes slightly and carefully sand it smooth.
