Sorry if this may have been covered in previous posts, but I did a search and could not find what I am looking for.

I have a circa 1990 Mercury 9.9HP outboard and I am looking for a parts diagram/reference that will help me find replacement parts. Whenever I go to the local boat stores or try to search for parts online, I can't find the right parts unless I have Mercury part numbers, or so it seems. I am just looking for information that I can use when I need to get a new fuel filter, new impeller, new gaskets, etc.

I believe my motor is around model year 1990, but I can't tell for sure right now because I don't have the boat with me at my house here. It has the somewhat squared-off cowling compared to the 1980's models, and the boat is a 1990 so I figure the motor is about the same.

Need serial number off engine.
Can't guess around when wanting/needing parts.

OK I guess I will have to try and get the serial number next time I am up at the lake. I figured that many of the parts are common to more than one model year (usually a range), so I thought an estimate of the model year would suffice for at least some of the major parts.
