6221701 is less than 904645 and the A904645## starts the '86 model year.. <br /><br />Stick to you year and Serial number if possable unless the part is discontinued. If that is the case an outfit like mercurypartsexpress.com will tell you what the subsitute is. <br /><br />marinengine.com will also help and they use the Sierra parts book and that shows substitues as well.
