Hello everyone,
First post in the forum. Thanks for having me! So I just bought a little fishing boat set up from a an old gentleman. 2011 9.9 honda outboard on the back. Well I notices some oil around the lower cover. I removed it to inspect. It turned out to be nothing, just some run off from the las oil change I suspect. Anyways, when I opened the cover a screen and a hose just fell out. What could these be for? I see no points where they could have fallen from. Engine ran great when tested. I've attached a few photos for you pro's to hopefully help me out with! Hoping a forgetful mechanic just left them in there when he was servicing it!
Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum.

The round thing, called a flame trap (#19), fits in the black plastic air guide.

The hose fits on a nipple and most likely, the other end dangles. It could be a carb overflow, airbox drain, telltale hose, almost anything. Look for an open nipple.

They put a short piece of hose on the carb float bowl that's used to direct gas when the float bowl drain is opened. Float bowl drain very useful. That little piece of hose (likely #20 in the diagram above) not so much.

Yes! That's it! I already got it back in. The hose was on the air box too. Thank you so much! :)

It rarely is! I took the rest of the covers off to check for any other loose parts. All seems good! Time to hit the water
