I've got the top half of a 1971 65HP, with a chance to get a complete non-running 1969 65HP.

I will probably want to cannibalize the 71 to fix the 69 since it's complete, will the powerhead and ignition parts interchange between these 2 years?

Or, alternately, will the L/U from the 69 bolt onto the 71?

Thanks for any/all help,

Jason

Completely interchangeable, get to wrenchin' !!!

Do yourself a favor and change out the impeller before you install the lower unit. Sierra part # 18-3017.

BTW good deals on Sierra replacement parts to be found at www.boatfix.com

http://www.boatfix.com/searchsierra.asp

And here's a good place to look up part numbers for your motor:

http://www.dougrussell.com/partscatalog/collections/index.cfm?fuseaction=collectdetails&colid=01

Cheers...........ed
