I want to take my grandson (7) fishing for panfish primarily 'gills or crappie. Truck's in the shop so I can't trailer my boat. Need to either fish from shore or would be willing to hire someone to take us. Sounds silly to get a guide for panfish but that's what I could use right now. Any suggestions as to lakes or guides?
We live in Canton, Mi but I'll drive anywhere reasonable.
Thanks, Bob

Bob, there are a coulpe of charters of of Harsens Island that would probably work for you. There is also a store that rents boats for the day, last year price was about $42.00 for a 16ft with motor, gas, and PFD's. You'll most likely want to stay in the channel for pan fishing as the bays are really shallow but I have had great success in both areas. Harsens Island

Bob, you should also check out Stoney Creek or Kensington Metro parks. I believe both offer boat rentals (maybe only row boats, not sure) - I've heard good stories on the bass fishing at Stoney, but not sure about the pan fish.

Try crosswinds marsh in carleton. I've seen some 4 to 6 pound bass come out of there. All shore fishing.
