I have a 200 Johnson, Model# J200PLSSC. I have had paint peel off the lower unit ever since I've owned it! How to fix ? Johnson said they wouldn't do it! Out of warranty. That was 7 to 8 yrs ago. It is just getting worse !!!!
I Appreciate any Help or Response...
Thank You Davey C Sr

Re: Paint on unit

I've had good luck on more than a few occasions following a few tips from this site: http://www.nymarine.ca/Tips.html

I like to take the gearcases down to bare metal and then use Mar-Hyde's Single Stage Self Etching Primer. You can just brush it on.

Re: Paint on unit

Sounds Good ! I know I don't have spider cracks! Just peeling off! It looked like it wasn't polished the day I got it. Just faded and gets worse. So what color do I need? Or color code?
Thank You Very Much For Your Time and Response..........

Re: Paint on unit

BRP/Evinrude dealers have the aerosol paint. You need a clearcoat on top of that.

Go to the parts website and navigate to you motor. Paint is one of the selections in the parts catalog.

Due to the shipping hazard, you may find it better to deal with a local BRP dealer. Choose "looking to have my motor serviced" and then "area code" for a broader selection: http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Find-a-Dealer

make sure you use a proper primer such as zinc cromate or it (paint) will just come off about the first use, found out the hard way.
