Power Trim works 90% of the time then it stops working, all you hear is the clicking at the relays.
I tried both trim switches on the bow and shifter, both have same results.
Removed relays, jiggled some wires under the relay housing while someone would move the trim switch, sometime it would start working in a few minutes sometimes longer.
Also notice the trim draws a lot of current when used.
Would like suggestion on where to start troubleshooting this nagging problem.
Thanks

Might be the motor but I would start by cleaning up all the wires and plugs. ( really check out the ground wires.)

Where's the ground wire?
There's the 2 wires on the motor, which by reading thru other threads thats it's for the up & down.
Thanks

Re: P/Trim works inconsistently

Took the boat out today, Trim stop working in between the mid to up position. This time no clicking at relay, tried a jump wire directly to trim motor, nothing.
Does anyone know if there's a fuse somewhere and location?
Thanks

had same issue... removed trim motor took it to my local starter/alternater rebuilder and he found a brush hanging up repaired and have not had any issues sence... much cheaper than a new trim motor

Re: P/Trim works inconsistently

That's my plan, took off motor yesterday. My only concern is the relay housing is not screwed down (looks like previous owner did some wiring) and can't locate the 10 amp fuse.
Thanks for the info avirgo63

Might look under the dash for the fuse. Some manufacturers liked to pull power for the trim switch from the ignition switch.

Re: P/Trim works inconsistently

Found the 10a fuse, fasten to the back of the trim motor mount facing the transom. Volvo sure like's making things simple.
Fuse was blown.
Alternator/starter shop said the trim motor is in excellent working order. (no charge)
Re-wired the relay housing, new relays, fuse, trim switch and p/t fluid...works fine now.
Thank-You everyone for your assistance.
