Ozarks boaters?

We're looking to head up to MO for our weekends in summer 2012 and I was thinking about finding Lake of Ozarks resort areas to stay in but I'm not sure if it would be more advantageous for us to rent per weekend or get one place for the entire season. Has anyone done this before?

Had a great time as a kid in the Camdenton area at Shorecrest Resort, 1 week per summer in the early 70's.....but things have changed alot.

We have a place on the Big Niangua. The place you linked to is on the Little Niangua. Actually our normal anchor spot is in a cove directly across from Point View.

I've never done the math on seasonal vs. weekend rentals, but a couple of thoughts off the top...

The resort you are looking at is in the quieter LOTO waters. It also is a little trek by boat to the hotspots on the lake beyond the Four Corners area. You didn't say what you were interested in or what you may be boating in, so I don't know what's important to you.

A weekend rental may not be available every weekend depending on what's going on at the lake. The Shootout week and weekend fills up pretty early, for instance. So reserve early and be prepared to having to adjust to a different location on the lake.

A seasonal rental offers some stability and predictability, but you have to be pretty deliberate in your location selection. What do you plan to boat in? Do you want a dock or is ramp access good enough? What do want out of the lake, ie...night life, party cove, kid friendly activities?

We've had our place there since 2005, so with a bit more information I can steer you in a direction for a great Summer.

If you're looking at weekend rentals, I would be neglectful to not mention this one...
Bear Bottom Resort

It's one of our favorites on the lake. About 30 minutes from our dock, maybe an hour from Point View.
Great for kids and adults alike.

You definitely need to reserve early for this one, though.

Not sure if the OP will return, but I've found this LOTO map to be pretty helplful.
Some of the names have changed for some marinas and restaurants, but it's a good guide for LOTO planning.

That map is a dandy. You did good by posting it. In our neighborhood along Horseshoe Bend about at the 14 mile mark we can see several recent additions around our condo complex.

When the lake is rocking and rolling on weekends, we can sit in our living room; or, on the screened porch and have an el' primo view of the main channel, its boat traffic and the turkey vultures soaring on the uplifts along the cliffs.

Come On Summer.
