Anyone ever done it? Results? I'm looking to buy a 150 20inch shaft used outboard, as the boat is rated for a 150, but have not had much luck on the used market.
I came across a 200 today, but its got some Bob's machine goodies in it, and the owner feels that its more like a 225.

I'm not looking to be chastised here, i'm if anybody has taken a boat rated for a 150 and stuck a 200 on it, and how did it work out? Do much, still to little ect?

I'm no stranger to HP and learning curves. My 08 Tundra 5.7 supercharged is 501Hp and 550 ft/lbs. A few years ago I turbocharged my old Triumph, which was ungodly fast.
But i'm new to boats, so could use an opinion.

18Ft Anacapri center console with a 1 1/2 foot setback for the motor. It is a very deep V for a center console, a rough water boat. Not a flats boat.

its not such a good thing to do.....but......a close friend of mine put a new evinrude 175 on a NEW, deep vee that was rated at 125.....the boat was quick out of the hole and fastish....65 knts. my concerns would be with the integrity of the hull.....and what may happen if the "boat cops" come along side!

Ask your insurance agent what he thinks about it... and if you don't and have a wreck and they find a 200 on a boat rated for a 150, things won't be good. Even if the accident isn't your fault.

I don't know about other states but I'm pretty sure in Ohio if an ODNR agent found out they would board you, put you & all passengers in their boat, tow your boat back to the dock & give you a large ticket! (up to $300.00).

Overpowering is a stupid, adolescent stunt. You will not get "permission" here.
