Overnight in water

I am considering leaving my 22' glass boat in the water overnight for three nights this summer. It's a very clean lake but I've never left it in overnight once, let alone three. I put a good wax on it every spring and acid wash it every fall but I still worry I might stain it. Any thoughts or ideas??

Non-issue. I leave my glass hull in a slip for 3 days to a week all summer long. Warm lake, reasonably clean water. I get a scum line that wipes off pretty easily, no stains. Been doing same with last 4 boats for 30 years. Enjoy.

I leave mine in for weeks clean it up with the works tub and tile cleaner from the dollar store. spray it on and walk away. Turns my ski boat white as new. I don't bother to wipe it unless an oily residue appears from some oil slick in the lake.

No worries, I leave my boat in all summer. When I take it out it still looks new. I give it a wash and wax just because I can, about three rum and coke and it looks new once more.

i wouldn't worry to much.
i've over nighted a lot on my boat. mostly in my local watering hole. i wouldn't call it particularly clean. usually just one night though. here's the worst i got.

that's the side and this is the bottom

i've never figured out what that is. it did however wash off, with effort.
as for a slime ring. i've got that too. i over nighted in the missouri river. now that's a really filthy dirty river. even an day of boating in it will put a bathtub ring on yer boat. over night in it and it's a greasy dark ring around your boat. it also washed off with water and effort.

so, imho, i wouldn't worry about it. just wash whatever foul crap that gets on your boat off right away when your done with it.

last comment. i inherited my dads boat years ago. dads boat sat in a lake in mn. all summer long (it is a pretty clear, clean lake). never got removed from the water. it was tied to the dock. now that had a ring around it. been a while since i did it, but i think i used 25% muratic acid + water to remove it with a stiff bristle brush. it worked and when i was done it didn't have a ring around it. it was however labor intensive to remove, even with the nasty acid.
go boating and enjoy your over night fun. it's a great thing to do with your boat imho.

Just make sure you have a towel handy when you pull it out of the water. Really easy to remove waterline and scum immediately, much harder if you let it dry on there.

add two more and would it look like a bigger boat?

With your diligent washing and waxing you'll have no worries at all. Like Alldodge said, what little scum line is there will wipe right off with a towel if you don't let it dry. Even if it dries on you just have to scrub a little harder.

I have used mine for a week, not bottom paint in the ICW and have never had an issue. Its only long term storage you should worry about.

That would be such a pain to have to pull my boat out every day. It's sits for six weeks or more on a buoy in the lake while I'm at the cabin. I waxed the lower hull four years ago but I don't bother with that anymore.

Just wipe it down when you pull it out and you should be fine. Three days is nothing. It is, after all, a boat and made for the water.

A good coat of wax in itself will help keep the hull clean. A waxed trailer boat is best cleaned with a good auto or boat wash. (I like Mcguires product best)

The last thing I would do is an acid wash. That'll take off all the wax too. My son is not as dilligent as I am. When we winterized his boat this Fall he had an off-white slick on his white hull right at the waterline. A coat of Mcguires paste wax removed the slick and put a good coat of wax on as well. Killed 2 birds with one stone...

Wax in the Fall and the boat is protected in the Winter too.

Toilet bowl cleaner will take off stains and other crud (probably the wax too). Wipe it on, let it sit, and then hose it off. The stains will disappear as you watch.

I wouldn't worry about leaving it in the water. Just make sure the docking situation is good. My boat used to sit in the water almost all summer on whips so it never hit the dock.
