Re: Overloaded vs Manufacturers recomendation.

Well I've never bought a new truck... Thought most came standard with some sort of hitch... Guess not.
Maybe there are different levels of tow packages. And maybe the newer trucks are getting better hitches than the old ones did....

Also I had it in my head that my Reese Titan was a class IV but it's a class V... Brain fart. It's the class V that would really surprise me if it was the basic hitch installed on a new half ton truck.... The receiver is 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.... It's a monster.

Either way there are STILL a LOT of trucks on the road with class III hitches and not everyone has a new truck.

As I said from the start we have told plenty of people to check the rating on their hitch and upgrade if needed....
Sadly tho I think most ignore that advice.

On the F150 there is only one Tow package. GM/Dodge have had more, don't know any more.
We always try to buy new, then turn them into salvage yard/trade. :D
Trying to get the 01 F150 to hold together for the 2015, it's time. Tired 250+k, sat outside always and used as a truck, so not much left of the poor thing anymore. It did make it to Florida last July, 1200 miles one way, and back with 5000+ lbs. trailer on the way down. Much happier on the way back with empty trailer/truck.
WV was a struggle, so the 6500+ boat is not going to make that trip. (want to trade for couple of weeks)

The 3/4 and up could come standard with a hitch, like you, I've never seen one without.

Your right they just don't check.......

My old truck will need its next oil change here in a couple weeks at 340,000 miles lol.

I get em when most folks think they're done for.... Fix em up..... And run the snot out of em till they just evaporate. LOL
