Overheating?

Hi All

As per my previous post with links, I wanted to ask a couple of things. After some low speed running- it was the kids first time on a boat-I opened it up to about 3/4 throttle. After changing tanks ( fuel) it became hard to start. I actually needed the choke to start it, and even then it was protesting. After some fishing, we headed back, but it was again hard to start, unless choked. Once started, it was running well, until about 2-3 minutes of WOT, the overheat buzzer sounded. I tilted the engine to inspect for foreign objects around the prop/intake, nothing. I then took the cover off, and felt around. I could touch, easily, the powerhead/leg and any other parts I wanted to.

Could this be a faulty buzzer? Any ideas guys- I'd appreciate it. Again, not 100% happy as it misses every now and then, but I am sure that is the link & sync, so I will re-do, but the overheat warning?

Re: Overheating?

For what it's worth, I had a similar situation with my Force 120. It would run fine on the hose for an hour and never go off. Once I put it out on the lake, the overheat buzzer would sound. I changed out the impeller, thermostat, and made sure that I didn't have an obstruction in the cooling passages but it still did it every time. I pulled the plug out of the top of the engine and put a temp probe in there to make sure that it wasn't really overheating. It never got over 130 degrees but the overheat would sound anyways. I eventually pulled out the thermostat and never had a problem again. Temps still run good and it runs great.
