Re: overheated engine

Hi fishfinder...Do a compression check to make sure no damage was done to the cylinders and pistons. This would be No.1 on my list. Pull the spark plugs and inspect for any bits of metal that may be there. This being done, find the cause for the overheat. Check impeller, T-stats. If you have a service manual, use a peak reading volt meter and measure voltage to the power packs. The manual will tell you how. Measure voltages from the sensor coil. If you have no spark on any plug, then what ever is wrong is common to them all. Usually a power coil in the stator assembly. Keep us updated. Oh, and check the alarm horn. It's inside the control box or under the dash. Chances are it's bad. Good luck. :p

Re: overheated engine

i picked up some trash while running is the cause of the problem. when i turn the motor over i get alot of fuel coming out of the cyl. i have the flywheel off right now due to the fact that i have a another stator and going to try it out . i checked it with a ohm meter but i din't get any voltage. but i checked it to ground and it wasn't shorted. after the engine cooled down i cranked it and rode about a mile before i lost fire . the engine would only get 4000rpm's w.o.t. and was acting like i was running on half a engine.

Fishfinder...definitly get a compression test. Better yet, pull the heads and take a gander. I don't think running the engine after an over heat like yours was a real good idea. If'n it was me, I wouldn't run her any more till I knew all was well inside and out. The price of a couple head gaskets may save a bundle in the long run.

Re: overheated engine

Try the XP carbs and throttle bodys. And the airbox that goes with them. They are calibrated as a matched set.

Good luck!
