My buzzer sounded today after I caught a small plastic bag around the water intake. I turned the engine off IMMEDIATLY and let it sit for about 15 minutes before turning it back on.(I also removed the bag of course) I have a 2000 model Yamaha 130HP 2 stroke and I know that what happened is normal, but since its my first time I'm a little nervous. How hot does the engine actually get for the buzzer to sound? I have to assume that the buzzer sounds prior to it getting TOO hot to cause damage. The engine started right back up and seemes to run normally, is there anything else I should be aware of as far as this is concerned? Thanks in advance. Pat

Pat, you should be OK. The buzzer did its job, warning you of the motor getting too hot. I would have removed the bag, and restarted the motor to get cooling water flowing again right away, but I doubt it makes a lot of difference. Don't lose any sleep over this one.

Fouled Plug- Thanks for the response so quickly. The reason I didnt start it back up right away is I figured its better to let the engine cool down before adding cold water to it, but as you said, I dont think I should lose sleep over this tonight. What an invaluble device that alarm is.
