can anyone tell me the best way to test my overheat buzzer? (1990 force 120 l-drive). It has never sounded at startup when I put the key in the on position, but it has worked in the past (sucked up a rag one time and pinched hose the other). I have not heard it in years which is great but would like to know for sure that it still functions from time to time!. Thanks for any input!!

Re: overheat buzzer test

You should have a thermoswitch of some type on or about the cylinder head. Should be an orange wire attached to this thermoswitch. Disconnect the orange wire from the thermoswitch and touch the end of the wire to a good ground in the vicinity. (Maybe a cylinder head bolt head that has a bit of the paint scratched off, not the best but it will work for test purposes.) With the ignition in the "on" position and the orange wire going to ground the overheat alarm should go off. When done reconnect the orange wire and your set. Hope this makes sense and helps.
